We Started With a Simple Question
Why does budgeting feel so complicated when the basics should be straightforward? That question led us to create resources that actually make sense.
From Spreadsheets to Something Better
Back in early 2019, our founder Sienna Wickström was sitting in a café in Plumpton, staring at her own messy budget spreadsheet. She'd tried every app and template out there, but nothing clicked. Everything assumed you already knew what you were doing.
That's when she started writing down what actually worked. Not fancy financial jargon or complicated formulas. Just practical steps that helped real people understand where their money was going.
What started as notes shared with friends became workshops at the local community centre. Those workshops turned into online resources. And now, here we are—a small team still based in Plumpton, still focused on making budget essentials accessible to everyone.
We're not financial advisors promising miracles. We're educators who believe that understanding your budget shouldn't require a finance degree.
What Guides Our Work
Clarity Over Complexity
We strip away the confusing bits. If something takes more than three sentences to explain, we're probably overcomplicating it. Budget basics should feel approachable, not intimidating.
Real People, Real Situations
Our content comes from actual conversations with people managing everyday finances. We listen to what trips folks up, then build resources around those specific challenges.
Practical, Not Theoretical
You won't find abstract financial concepts here. Everything we teach has been tested in real life—by us, by our community, by people who just want their budget to make sense.
How We Build Our Resources
Our process might seem backwards compared to traditional financial education, but it works. We start with the confusion, not the textbook.
Listen to What's Actually Confusing
We talk to people about where they get stuck. Not what experts think should be hard—what actually causes problems in real budgeting situations.
Break It Down to Basics
Then we figure out the simplest way to explain it. If our explanation creates more questions, we start over. The goal is understanding, not impressive vocabulary.
Test With Real People
Before anything goes live, we run it past folks who aren't budget experts. If they nod along, we're on track. If they look confused, back to the drawing board.
Keep Improving Based on Feedback
After resources launch, we pay attention to what works and what doesn't. Our materials evolve based on how people actually use them.
